Unbeloved (Undeniable, #4)

Unbeloved by Madeline Sheehan

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Not as riveting as some of the others in the series

I heard a podcast the other day discussing the merits of different points of view in a story, and it said that first person characters sometimes get caught up in their own heads.

That’s how I feel about this book. I liked it. I liked reading more about these characters and this world. But, it didn’t seem to keep the story moving at the same pace as the other books before it. I kept finding myself distracted. I was disappointed since I was a big fan of the first book in this series in spite of the fact that all three men who were interested in Eva in book one needed to drive off a cliff together to a fiery demise.

Anyway, I enjoyed the story of Dorothy and Hawk. I was hoping for a bit more drama with Jase being in the mix, but it was still good. And I thoroughly enjoyed the foreshadowing regarding ZZ, and the epilogue. I will definitely be reading his story, although I suspect he will be another “hero” that I hate and can’t find redeemable. Because, as of right now? He is an irredeemable dumpster fire of a person. Shoots his brother. Shoots his other brother, and beats him up. Betrays the club. Joins the enemy. Kills people. And then, because there might be some tiny bit of a soul hiding that he just has to burn out of himself, he leaps into trafficking women (or so it seems, anyway). What a prize. I kinda hope his book involves some kind of hideous comeuppance. Talk about an HEA. ❤

Again, I got distracted…

This book was good. If you’ve enjoyed this series thus far then you need to read this book for sure. It isn’t a standalone, and your enjoyment of it would take a significant hit if you tried to jump in here without reading the other books first.

Recommended!

Can’t wait for ZZ’s book to see what kind of completely deserved hell the author puts him through.

Warning: This is not a conventional or predictable love story. It involves one woman and two men bound by a love so destructive it spans two decades, pitting brother against brother, and shattering the lives of those touched by it.

Dorothy Kelley is a born romantic, searching for her prince. Instead she finds herself pregnant at fifteen, and in a loveless marriage by the tender age of eighteen. Then hope comes riding into her life on a motorcycle and within weeks, Jason “Jase” Brady, a member of the Hell’s Horsemen motorcycle club, sweeps Dorothy off her feet.

But nothing is ever simple for Dorothy. Jase is married with children. And as Dorothy patiently waits for Jase to give her the happily-ever-after she’s been dreaming about, James “Hawk” Young, a member of the Hell’s Horsemen with secrets of his own, sees an opening into Dorothy’s life and takes it. What follows is a long and painful journey of self-discovery and forgiveness, as Dorothy comes to realize that home was exactly where she’d left it, and the love she’d forever craved had always been within her reach.

This is the story of Dorothy, Jase, and Hawk.

We are all born pure; it is our journey that burdens us and leads us astray. Our mistakes that beat us down and cover us in guilt and shame, burying us a little more with each passing hardship. It is up to us to dig ourselves out, to come to terms with our faults, to embrace not only our imperfections but those of the ones we love, and to once again find the path we strayed from.

Praise for the UnDeniable Series:
“I have never been so beautifully uncomfortable than when reading the Undeniable Series. I didn’t just feel while reading them. Madeline Sheehan set every single emotion within me on fire with a blowtorch.”
—S.L. Jennings, New York Times and USA Today best-selling author

“In an untouchable league of her own, Madeline Sheehan has created a riveting tale of ugly, forbidden love turned beautifully right. Heartbreak, grief, and finding strength and healing through family is the foundation of this emotional saga. A single breathing entity working in tandem against the cruelty that is their world, every character in the Undeniable Series will become a piece of you, embedding themselves into your thoughts for years to come.”
—Gail McHugh, New York Times best-selling author

Compulsive reader. Romantic suspense/contemporary romance/dark romance/NA romance addict. Particularly fond of mafia, forced/arranged marriage, secret baby, kidnapping, and dark alpha heroes. Just out here doing my part for humanity- these books won't read themselves.
