Cards of Love: The High Priestess by Olivia Ryann
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Left me wanting
Well, shucks. I have so enjoyed the two series (Arsen and Dryas’ stories) associated with this book (Damen’s story), and was looking forward to this one. Unfortunately this book (more of a novella, really) left me wanting. Other than the initial introduction of Bianka and Damen we don’t get any happenings that aren’t included in the other series’ books, and there isn’t much in the way of backstory or development since the book is so short. I’d love to see Damen get his own series as well since this book, while a tasty nugget, didn’t provide much. It was more of an amuse-bouche than anything else.
Recommended if you’ve read the other two series and want a little more, just don’t expect very much more.

Damen Aetos. Mob boss. Madman.
And soon to be my husband.
He doesn’t care that I’m a virgin.
Doesn’t care about my beauty.
Nothing matters to him but my last name.
By marrying me, the Madman ensures that a centuries-old bargain will be met.
The fact that he gets me — gets to do anything to me that he wants — is just icing on the cake for him.
But I have secrets too, lurking beneath my pretty surface.
Secrets, lies, and a power greater than either of us can imagine.
The question is, when The High Priestess comes calling, how will he respond?
