Menace (Scarlet Scars #1)

Menace (Scarlet Scars #1)

Menace by J.M. Darhower

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So good!

Another home run from J.M. Darhower! I fell in love with Monster in his Eyes and its sequels. I didn’t immediately realize this was the story of Lorenzo from those books.
This book, as do all of her books, really keeps the story moving. There were no lulls. And I love Lorenzo- he is funny and witty even though he seems a bit unbalanced and frightening. He plays off of Scarlet/Morgan so well. Their respective damaged hearts just fit. I love the development of their relationship. I love how much crazy Lorenzo loves his brother. And how he waffles between caring for, and wanting to murder, Scarlet/Morgan. His character is unpredictable in the greatest way. He comes across as charming, but also someone who might slit your throat on a whim. He reminds me a bit of Preppy from T.M. Frazier’s King series.
All in all, a great read! I am falling all over myself to get started on book #2!

Once upon a time, there was a guy who got so fed up with life that he resorted to murder and mayhem just to feel alive.

Lorenzo Gambini is bored. So f*cking bored. Most people either annoy him or avoid him, afraid to face him. Figuratively. Literally. With his face partially disfigured, scarred, he looks every bit the monster the stories make him out to be: the notorious Scar. They say he’s a sociopath. Maybe he’s a psychopath. Whatever path he’s on, people tend to stay far away from it.

Until one day, a young woman bumps right into him–a woman just as fed up with life, but for much different reasons. With a Scarlet Letter inked on her wrist and secrets buried deep in her soul, Morgan Myers is running from something… or maybe somebody. Lorenzo isn’t quite sure.

You can bet your ass he’s going to figure it out, though.

Compulsive reader. Romantic suspense/contemporary romance/dark romance/NA romance addict. Particularly fond of mafia, forced/arranged marriage, secret baby, kidnapping, and dark alpha heroes. Just out here doing my part for humanity- these books won't read themselves.
